Introducing "GoBe Central"

The year is 2019, and amidst the noise and bustle of Yaba, a group of young innovators came together to design solutions for some of Africa’s education challenges. About a year passed, and after numerous “How might we’s”, pivots and a few launched solutions that did not scale, we got off realizing how challenging and lonely it can be to innovate in the education space. We were exploring relatively uncharted territory, there wasn't a playbook to learn from, data was insufficient, and very few entrepreneurs could relate to our struggles. Education wasn’t the hottest sector to be innovating at the time. This left us wondering if other passionate young Africans cared about the continent’s state of education as much as we did, if and how they were navigating these issues and the impact of these challenges on the pace of innovation. These questions originated the idea for GoBe.

GoBe started as a small but diverse group of individuals(educators, designers, engineers, activists…) with a shared interest in education innovation, leveraging community and technology to provide innovators with the support, learning, and information that we wish existed during our difficult entrepreneurial journey. The rationale is that our different perspectives would prove valuable in exploring new ways to stimulate much-needed innovation in the African education ecosystem.

The “GoBe Central” newsletter keeps our community up-to-date with valuable resources, information, and activities; spotlights innovation; shares our journey; and hopefully inspires you to participate in this evolution.
